Design & character
Philosophy
A classic Porsche 911 is art to me. It’s character should therefore only be altered in very distinctive ways.
All concepts are based on three fundamental principles.
-
Concepts are exclusively build on 911 F- and G-models. More specifically, model years 1970 until 1986. The reason for excluding the 964 & 993 generation lies in their increased weight and altered chassis structure, which is not on line with my philosophy.
-
“Inspired by Icons” is my leading motto. I take my inspiration and fascination from racetrack icons like the 911 R, ST and RSR. I prefer bringing in the racing character and style of those models into my concepts.
-
Cutting corners is something that I refer from doing. Therefore all concepts need to go through the full nut and bolt restoration process. All work is performed in Germany and I highly recommend to visit your build anytime possible along the way.
methodology
Build2Sample is not a workshop. It’s a hub for designing air cooled dreams and enabling their realisation, build on a network of experts.
Engineers, coachbuilders, painters, and upholsterers, together they represent a hand-picked value chain that is able to provide quality standards which surpass the capabilities of a single workshop.
-
Staying true to the original character, all concepts are constructed with period correct technology and materials. Although gimmicks like LED headlights or a touchscreen display might seem value adding, I believe the rawness is what makes a car like this intriguing.
-
With luxury comes weight, with weight comes the loss of liveliness. Constructing cars in a way that optimises driving pleasure means keeping it simple. Focusing on the use of lightweight materials like Kevlar-Carbon compounds enhances the character of the drivetrain.
-
I build cars that are meant to be driven. This implies that handling is a crucial factor. From the choice of the pedal setup to the configuration of suspension and seating position - I highly focus on tailoring the drivability of each car to its owner.
